MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHILST RAISING FUNDS TO ASSIST YOUR SCHOOL OR LOCAL COMMUNITY

The UNCLE TOBYS® Big Splash Swimathon is a great way your school can make a real difference and also assist your School or local community with their fundraising efforts.

As you raise money through the UNCLE TOBYS® Big Splash Swimathon, half the money you raise will go to the Royal Life Saving Swim and Survive Drowning Prevention Strategy. The other half will be allocated to your locally nominated not-for-profit or charitable activity1, based upon the following three options:

  1. Royal Life Saving Swim and Survive Drowning Prevention Strategy doubling the funds raised and impact.
  2. Not-for-profit organisation as part of a local fundraising cause e.g primary school fundraising for new library books for the school library.
  3. Registered Charity

Note, an administration fee of 4.5% will be deducted from gross proceeds to determine the net proceeds to be allocated as per the details above (and as outlined in the terms and conditions clause 33-36)

WHEN TO MAKE YOUR BIG SPLASH?
Anytime between Tuesday 6 October 2009 to Wednesday 31 March 2010.

BE ACTIVE, HEALTHY AND HAVE FUN – SET YOUR BIG SPLASH CHALLENGE TODAY
Register your School, decide on your Big Splash venue and set your Big Splash Challenge2.

Rather than locking you into a set activity, we’re inviting you to be creative and set a challenge that suits your School, whether that be:

  • Incorporated into your school swimming carnival
  • A stand-alone school based event (e.g.end of year/end of term event)
  • Linked to your School’s Water Safety Awareness / Safety Program.
  • A part of an Active School Fun Day.
  • A part of a Family Fun Day fundraising event which is facilitated by your School.

Being active, healthy and having fun in the water, your School’s Big Splash activities could involve participants:

  • Swimming a set number of laps.
  • Reaching a personal best in the water.
  • Participating in a nominated number of swimming events during the School Swimming Carnival.
  • Completing a swimming novelty challenge. e.g. parent vs teacher showdown.
  • Age group competitions for each swimming race with an overall Big Splash Champion. It could be that a winning prize/s are donated by a local supporter/sponsor for the overall Big Splash Champion.
  • House competitions within the School to see which house can earn the most points by winning races / competing in events (eg. Each child gets 1 point for competing in an event).
  • Showcasing skills learnt at the completion of the School’s Water Safety Awareness / Safety Program.
  • Attending an end of year/end of term event themed for the BIG SPLASH, with money paid for entry and/or lucky door raffles used as donations to the UNCLE TOBYS® Big Splash Swimathon.
