Background:

Eamon Sullivan is recognised as one of Australia’s most exciting rising stars.

Since his Olympic debut in Athens in 2004, Eamon has continued to improve and build his reputation as a leading force in sprint swimming.

At his second Olympics, Eamon broke the 100m world record twice, and came away with two silver and one bronze medal, the best performance by a male athlete on the Australian team. Sullivan was also the only man to beat Phelps in a final, in the lead off leg in the 4x100m relay.

In 2006, Eamon represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne where he won gold in the men’s 4x100m Medley relay, silver in the 50m Freestyle and 4x100m Freestyle relay and bronze in the 100m Freestyle.

With the Commonwealth Games experience under his belt, Eamon showed his class at the national championships, when he won his first Australian title in December 2006. Eamon’s title wins in the men’s 50m and 100m events also secured his place on the Australian team to compete at the 12th FINA World Championships.

Competing at his first World Championships, the Western Australian speed machine produced career best swims to match it with the best in the world. His bronze medal win in the men’s 100m Freestyle smashed his personal best time, while his final leg in the men’s 4x100m gold medal winning swim captured the hearts of the Australian home crowd.
